I’m #ProudOfMyStore.
I could not be more proud of my team here in Banbridge but a special mention to my Supervisor Danielle who went over and above with a customer this week.
Danielle had by chance got a couple of calls from a customer who was enquiring via telephone about different skirts we had in store, she told the customer that they could come in and see the skirts or download our new look app to explore a bigger range and have them delivered to the store for free should they have had any concerns leaving the house during these strange times. The customer then on the third phone call confided in Danielle that they were currently in the transitioning stage of one gender to another and that they were really anxious about coming to any store to try on clothes. Danielle immediately used her natural caring, considerate nature and explained to the customer that she would meet them at the door at a set time and walk the floor with them as a companion to select items, she had a fitting room reserved for the customer and told the customer she would wait for them to try on and then offer her opinion and help select the products. 100% assured the customer that our store is a safe space and that if ever they need to come In and have anxiety to ring ahead and she would be a go to member of the team until they were fully comfortable with all the team.
Never in my life have I came across such an excellent service being provided and what’s more it all came naturally to Danielle to think outside the box and go that extra mile for a customer who had concerns coming to the store
I could not be more proud of this amazing gesture and that the customer was able to overcome their fear of visiting us whilst going through a challenging time in their life.
I am so proud of my store for many reasons. We are a community store that has served the local community throughout the pandemic. Always with fantastic customer service and a smile. Sadly we have experienced an increase in shoplifting and abuse during the pandemic. Been targeted by a gang. We all supported each other and kept smiling. The whole team gets behind my passion for colleague safety which I help promote.
We also launched the baby bank charity which provides baby and child items for our local community that are in need.
Everyone goes above and beyond and make the store not just a shop but a community hub.
We also just had a fundraising day for Mind where everyone dressed up and raised vital funds
None of us could have predicted how tough 2020 would be for everyone, and what a challenge it has been for small businesses like ours but we are so proud of what we have achieved in the past year. We’ve tried to adapt with every challenge thrown at us and make the best of the situation. It started with drive-by ‘contactless cakes’ when lockdown closed our shop, then we treated our NHS workers with cake deliveries to local hospitals, then we realised our key workers needed a treat too and so we asked for nominations and delivered over 1000 treats to care workers, pharmacies, schools, care homes, hospitals, doctors and police stations! ❤️
Then we took our business online with the help of a family member and we were blown away by the demand for cupcake deliveries through lockdown! It was lovely to see our regulars and new customers treating loved ones to a gift with orders coming in from all over the world. Grandparents who missed their grandchildren and children who missed their parents, special birthdays spent at home, missed celebrations and weddings. 🧁
We have postponed over 100 weddings, some 4 times! We even created a postal wedding cake sample box so that customers could taste cake at home. In June we built a “cake hatch” so we could reopen safely. Then the government reduced weddings and gatherings so we brought out the ‘Mini Cake’ perfect for parties of 6!
We took the opportunity to do a rebrand and gave our shop a makeover and with our new online shop we have gone from strength to strength and we are now expanding with a new bakery space. We are so proud of our business and hardworking team including my mum (the founder) who had just retired and came back to help with deliveries so we could keep going through 3 lockdowns.
We have high hopes for 2021 and we are so grateful to every one of you who has supported us by eating more cake! 💖🥰
